Memphis Firefighters: Using the AMI on tactical athletes

The AMI and Tactical Athletes

In April 2021, Memphis firefighters performed their first Rebound Vitality Safe Movement Assessment, powered by our dorsaVi wearable sensor technology, on 50 firefighters over two days.

As tactical athletes, firefighters are required to maintain a high level of fitness: aerobic endurance as well as muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility. Our dorsaVi technology is the perfect way to assess their movement quality.

The firefighters were fitted with dorsaVi's wearable sensor technology (this can be seen being attached in the image to the right). They were then required to complete a series of tests, designed to challenge and assess their legs and core and safely measure their strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination (pictures of this can be seen down below).

At the end of this assessment, the clinicians used the actionable data drawn from the AMI and tailored individual programs for the athletes, prescribing corrective exercises to improve movement quality and decrease injury potential, ensuring that these tactical athletes remain healthy and maintain long careers.

The picture above shows where dorsaVi's wearable sensor technology sits on the athlete. On the tibia is one of two positions, the other includes placing the sensors on the low back to measure the lumbar spine.

The picture above shows a firefighter completing the side plank test, this is one out of the seven set tests.
