Effect of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture on Physical Activity, Sports Participation, Patient-Reported Health Outcomes, and Physical Function in Young Female Athletes This research article, from the American Journal of Sports Medicine , looks at the effect of ACL reconstruction on future sports participation, patient reported outcomes, and physical function in female athletes. The study was conducted on a cohort of 102 female athletes aged 15-23, 51 participants had undergone ACL reconstruction within the previous 1-2 years and 51 had no previous knee injury: All participants were fitted with an accelerometer for 13 days that measured their Physical Activity.
